Purpose:
|
The lid fissure change can be caused by strabismus surgery.we can minimize its effects, or if there is a disparity between the two sides of the eyelid, it can be minimized or eliminated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of strabismus surgery on lid fissure change

Methods:
|
In this prospective, cross-sectional study, all candidate (58 cases) underwent of strabismus surgery based on the preoperative deviation. All Patients evaluated for the lid fissure height (LFH), marginal reflex distance1 (MRD1 and marginal reflex distance 2 (MRD2 preoperatively and one and three months after surgery. Data analyzed statistically with SPSS 20.

Results:
|
97 eyes from 58 patient underwent strabismus surgery. The average age was 19.7 ± 13.8 years. Changes in LFH and MRD2 performed 1 and 3 months postoperatively in medial rectus and lateral rectus recess were statistically significant (P <0.05). The effect of correction per millimeter on LFH in medial rectus and lateral rectus recession were 0/138 ± 0.031 mm 119.11 ± 0.024 mm respectively that were statistically significant(P <0.05).

Conclusion:

Our results also indicate that if surgeons consider eye lid fissure condition (when planning and choosing strabismus surgery), the results more Satisfied.
