Purpose:
To report an interesting complication of the ocular bee sting.
Methods:
A 41 y/o man presented with a history of bee sting in his lt eye from several months ago. He claimed that his friend removed the sting at that time. He mentioned a vague history of eye strain.
Results:
However, during a careful examination, another stinger was present in the corneal stroma. Because of no stromal reaction and peripheral location, the patient was managed by observation
Conclusion:
The stinger is made of stylet-wrapped double lancets, with a saw-like tip and an upper bulb. An ophthalmologist should take care of the other stinger after the removal of the first one.
